How does this all work? Emerging Artists Online Art Gallery is a website for buying and selling original pieces of Art. Safe, secure, and easy-to-use. Artists sign up and list their Art for free. The Artist only pays a commission when their Art is sold. Buyers purchase original pieces of Art with a satisfaction of knowing their purchase is safe and secure.
What if I purchase an Artwork and it never arrives. Your funds are held at Emerging Artists Online Art Gallery and are not transferred to the Artist until you receive and approve the Artwork. Prior to receipt, you will receive an email with the tracking number of the shipment. If the shipment is lost by the carrier, it is the responsibility of the Artist to work out the loss with the carrier, your funds will be returned by Emerging Artists Online Art Gallery.
I've signed up as an Artist, but I can't upload my work. Each Artist that joins Emerging Artists Online Art Gallery goes through a verification/approval process. This normally takes less than 24 hours. Once your account is approved, you may begin uploading your work immediately. If you continue to have a problem with this, please contact us at support request.
I've submitted a listing but the picture on the website looks blurry or not very good. This is our number one problem. There are two things to consider:
1) Start with a great image. Make sure the photo is clear, well lighted, and looks great when you view it on your computer. Many images are blurry, or dark, or taken at a low resolution. The lisiting can never look better than the original image, so if you want a great listing, start with a great image. If the photo that you have isn't very good, take another one, it is important.
2) Use all the pixels that we allow. Make sure you use the maximum resolution of 800 x 600 pixels (see the resolution discussion below). We can't allow bigger images, but try and use the most that we allow. Important: You cannot take a lower resolution photo and enlarge it to this size. Your computer will allow you to do this, but the photo will look terrible. You have to start with a resolution equal to or higher than 800 x 600 pixels and reduce the image to the proper size. We discuss how to do this below.
Remember, your image in the listing IS the most important thing that your customer sees. Take your time and do it right.
I've signed up as an Artist, but I'm not sure if I have the right photo size/resolution for my photo. When you take a photo of your work, you want it to be less than or equal to 480k bytes in size. This allows for visitors to see beautiful pictures on the site, but it won't slow down your listing. If you have a camera, check the resolution or photo quality settings and set it for a maximum of 800 x 600 pixel resolution (if unsure, check your manual).
If you have Windows XP, this is very simple. Right click on the file that you want to change, the select "resize pictures" from the menu. At the next screen, where it says "Select a size", select "Medium (fits a 800x600 screen)" and hit "OK." You will then have a copy of the file in that directory that is named "Original Name (medium).jpg." Use that image.
If you already have a photo, you will have to use a photo editing software package (your camera software or Adobe or Microsoft or free programs) that allow you to open the picture and save it at another resolution/file size (be sure to use another name or you will overwrite your original photo). This is a simple process and easy to do once you learn how.
I've been approved as an Artist, and have uploaded Art, but it doesn't appear on the site yet. Each individual piece that is posted goes through an approval process. Each item is reviewed for overall site guidelines. This process takes less than 24 hours. If you continue to have a problem with this, please contact us at support request.
How do I find certain types of Art? Emerging Artists Online Art Gallery has many different methods of finding Art. Each piece is classified by the Artist using the Category table on the left hand side of the page. Simply "click" on what you're looking for (ie, Paintings) and you'll go to another Sub Category menu describing type (Oils, Pastels, etc). "Click" again on this this Sub Category menu and you'll be taken to another Sub Category menu describing subject (landscapes, portraits, etc).
Another method is just to browse the Latest Listings to see what are the most recent listings or Most Popular Listings to see what everyone is looking at.
Additionally, you can use the Search bar at the top of each page to look for any word or phrase that meets your search criteria.
Do you offer refunds on purchases? Once your purchase is made, we offer a refund period for seven (7) days after delivery. This refund is equal to the Purchase price less a 5% handling fee. (Note: the Buyer is responsible for shipping costs back to the Artist). EmergingArtists.com holds all funds in escrow until the Buyer receives the piece and the 7 day refund period has expired. This allows the buyer to fully examine the artwork for quality and shipping damage.
Does EmergingArtists.com ship the Art to me? No. Art is shipped directly from the Artist to the Buyer. EmergingArtists.com simply acts as a third part transaction vehicle to guarantee safety, satisfaction, and delivery.
How do I ship the Art? Do I insure it? The choice of shipping carrier is up the Artist (for the initial transaction) and the Buyer (for returns). We recommend that you use a well known carrier (UPS, Fed-X, DHL, USPS, etc) and insure the shipment. If you are the shipper, you are responsible to make sure that the shipment arrives in perfect condition so package it well and insure it for your protection.
Is new artwork added on a regular basis? Yes. Every day artists are posting new artwork. Click on "Newest listings" to see the latest art that we have posted.
Can anyone submit Art to sell? Absolutely. Our only requirement is that the Art be an original work. Emerging Artists Online Art Gallery accepts all types of Art from all types of Artists.
Does Emerging Artists Online Art Gallery guarantee the authenticity of each piece of Artwork sold? No. While Emerging Artists Online Art Gallery strives to maintain overall system integrity, we simply cannot verify the authenticity of each listing. This is one of the reasons for the seven (7) day refund period. It is the buyer's responsibility to verify authenticity. However, we do act quickly to shut down offenders and request that you notify us immediately if there is a problem via a support request.
What if I buy something and really don't like it? You have seven (7) days to examine any purchase and notify EmergingArtists.com of your intent to return an item. Notify us at returns@emergingartists.com. You will receive an email with instructions on how to ship the Art back to the Artist. You never return Art to EmergingArtists.com, we are not equipped to receive it. Once the Art has been received and inspected by the Artist, you will be issued a refund equal to the Purchase price less a 5% handling fee.
I've signed up and/or purchased something, but I'm having a problem, what do I do? If you have any problems at all, simply send us a support request.
Who pays for shipping? Shipping is included in the purchase price and is paid by the Artist. However, if a return is made during the refund period, the Buyer is responsible for shipping the Art back to the Artist. We strongly recommend that each shipper insure the shipment for the transaction amounts.
Can the Artist be contacted to inquire if they would be able to do the art in a different size?
Currently there is no method to contact the Artist for custom work, however, if you email us at support request, we can try and help in this regard. Artists are specifically forbidden from soliciting custom work through the website (of course they can do this in other venues). Solicitation by an Artist will result in immediate delisting from the website.
Can the Art that is sold be reproduced by the buyer?
The resale and reproduction of Art purchased on the site would fall under the same copyright and trademark laws as purchases through any retail gallery. The rights to reproduction of a piece would have to be negotiated between the buyer and Artist, independent of the sale of the piece on our website.
Is there an agreement that can be made with the Artist for sale of the rights?
It is possible to negotiate for purchase of the rights to a particular piece, however, this would have to be done directly with the Artist, and is not included in any purchase made on the website.
