Artist: Beth Consetta Rubel

Nationality: American Place of birth: Rochester, Minnesota Training: University of Texas at San Antonio; BFA Profile: Multidisciplinary artist (drawing, painting, sculpture) Beth Rubel’s work consists of colorful, mixed media paintings varying in small to large scale. She is particularly interested in the experiences of African Americans, women, and identity. The work fixates on black/white duality, genocidal images of mixed race, and racial caste systems. The works of art explore the origin and dissection of stereotypes in American identity and fiction that transcend into the schema of modern day society. Beth Rubel is a member of San Antonio Visual Arts Association and has exhibited work at the Austin Dougherty Arts Center.
